Code Red
The Town of Aurora has instituted a new rapid emergency and general notification service called CodeRED. This system was established by the Aurora Town Board as a proactive tool to keep our residents informed. It will also be used in emergency situations where it is important to get the most accurate information out to the public for decisive actions as they relate to conditions we may be experiencing. There are many features which CodeRED employs which benefit us greatly. With a one-of-a-kind Internet mapping capability for geographic targeting of calls, coupled with a high-speed telephone calling system capable of delivering customized recorded emergency messages directly to homes and businesses, live individuals and answering machines; we can notify the entire town in minutes.
This service can be used in case of fires, chemical spills, evacuations, lock downs, downed power lines, missing persons, natural disasters, abductions, water system problems, bomb threats, or other emergencies. Calls can be geographically targeted for localized messaging. We will also send follow up messages to residents, say for example, when a missing person is found.
By registering, you’ll be added to the emergency call list. There is also an option to enroll in non-emergency, public information notifications (“General Notifications”). We encourage you to sign up to this list to stay up-to-date about any changes to the Town, including public hearings, road closures, etc.
Or, text ALERTAURORA to 99411 to sign up!
